ÉDES SZABADSÁG (SWEET SOVEREIGNTY)

Édes Szabadság (Sweet Sovereignty) is a blogging platform of Kata Toth that was born out of necessity. The innate need to creatively express her true self and heal her wounds were the main driving factors when Kata started journaling in 2015.

Blogging revealed a bittersweet combination: while Kata was going through severe struggles with her illness, her otherwise cheerful personality and lightweight style managed to picture pain in a special way that many could relate to. What’s more, blogging turned out to be an organically growing tool that not just led her to find shelter for heavy thoughts during her severe illness.

It also resulted in starting a podcast, writing and publishing a children’s book and going on a book tour. All of which helped her to find community, to receive and give support to companions and to be heard, seen and recognized for her courage within the Hungarian Terézanyu (“Mom Theresa”) circles. In this latter community she’d won the “most courageous short video” award in 2017.
